Wine bottle storage in Chicago

Having a great vintage collection is now not just in the realm of those wealthy enough for a properly maintained cellar. As the popularity of wine has grown, so has the knowledge of preservation techniques, and ways to properly age red and white wines. The problem for many people is that they do not have enough space for proper wine storage. If you live in an apartment or a small house, space is a concern, not to mention the ability to maintain the exact temperatures and humidity needed for wine bottle storage. If you want to have a nice collection, but don't have the space, The Strongbox Wine Cellar offers a great and affordable wine storage alternative. We store wines in two Chicago locations, conveniently located and secure, protected from the elements and easily accessible during normal business hours. Below are the expert conditions we follow.

Conditions for proper wine storage

Strongbox utilizes four main principles for the proper chilling and nurturing of wines. These factors are temperature, humidity, vibration, and light. Wines should be held at temperatures assuring their optimum maturation rate, generally agreed upon as around 55 degrees Fahrenheit. For proper wine storage, humidity is also important, because too high a humidity causes mold to develop and labels to become damaged, but too low a humidity can cause corks to dry out. Our wine bottle storage facilities maintain relative humidities between sixty and seventy percent, considered to be the ideal for storing wines. To deal with vibration, Strongbox is built to withstand traffic and street noise and other disturbances, assuring wines will not throw off their sediments too soon. We also eliminate all natural and ultraviolet light.
